Merlin/Metro – Off-Runway Excursion

Failure of a methanol injection system caused asymmetric thrust during take-off resulting in an off-runway jaunt! After performing repairs to have the aircraft relocated by ferry flight from Rifle, Colorado, the restoration to pre-incident condition began. Due to unavailable new parts Straight Flight had to create tooling to have new skins stretch formed for this repair. After forming, our new skins were heat treated, trimmed, and epoxy primed exceeding the quality of the original factory skins.
